This piece is a self portrait of sorts. I acccidentally cut my finger and went to the bathroom to wash off the blood. That bathroom didn't have a working light so I had to use the distant lamp in the bedroom outside. My reflection was blurry in the mirror and I got lost trying to find the details of my form. Capturing these mundane moments is something I've always loved doing in my work - the large amount of blood from a small cut, the buzzing from the neon light trying to come to life and failing, the face I see everyday but couldn't quite make out. Visualising all of these elements was a challenge but I consider this piece a success in conveying a very specific feeling.
